They are committed to the small rosters. They are only taking players that should be there. They have already started having those crucial conversations with existing players that won't make the roster.

And everyone will be playing at age next year.

Everyone?

Even the famous 07 who currently plays 04/05? I find that hard to believe. Or has she already left for TSJFCV or whatever it's called?

Don't have any idea what she's doing, but I will say that that girl is a different situation than most of the other complained about play ups, who are doing it because they demand it and get their way, or because there is a hole due to injury, etc., at a higher age group and it's filling that gap, not helping the player.

Not saying she should play 05 or 04, but she would not be challenged by virtually any 07 -- there are not FULL TEAMS of players at that age as good as she is. My view on playing up is that it's only for VERY unusual situations when a) the player is head and shoulders better than her teammates, and b) the player is head and shoulders better than the players she'll face in most at-age games. Not saying there aren't a few others like her out there in the 07 age group, but that girl needs more of a challenge than playing at 07 would give. This is the same reason physically developed kids aren't getting any better by destroying their smaller counterparts at in regular travel situations....

I've seen her play against 2006s, and think she would be just fine at that level. Any higher is too much, especially when accounting for size and speed.

Happy to hear about smaller rosters Only taking players that should be there? One of our dd is an 07 and we weren’t impressed by the players at the first ID sessions. Where is all the quality going to come from? Maybe fcv with all the disgruntled merger parents?

That's possible. I can't say about 07, but for other age groups, it's been BRYC and McLean with some VDA sprinkled in.

No, it’s typically more $$ for other DA/ECNL options when all training costs are included. This amount for Metro is inclusive of all training and doesn’t include kits or travel. It’s about $400-600 more than the more expensive standard travel options, which is not a bad deal considering the training included, coaches, and the competition your child will be able to test themselves against. One of their goals in making changes was to reduce the costs and they were able to deliver.

The other virtue to me is the smaller roster. To me, paying a lot to be one of 22+ is like paying a lot for a big class size. Everyone knows the value of smaller player to coach ratio.

Yes, there were.
