The 06s will fall off because they were "developed" by Jaon. They weren't prepared to play in the ECNL to begin with. Not the 06 kids' fault, they were just put at a disadvantage. The 07s have been untouched by him and are one of the better teams in the area. They aren't going to take an outside player on to that top team and mess up the chemistry unless she is demonstrably better than who they already have. It's really a completely understandable situation.

Which are regular season and which are SHOWCASES? You don't join a SHOWCASE league to not go to SHOWCASES.

NC is a nice easy weekend trip drive. Richmond is a barely a day trip. Both are probably league games. Orlando and Texas are not regular league games.

You are also painting a very different picture when you tell someone "it's no big deal, just one weekend in North Carolina and not mention the two other weekends you are FLYING to games. Does it matter if it is a showcase or a league game when you are just as out of town?

And that is not to mention the showcase in New Jersey in the late spring as well. So, you are not being truthful when you say one weekend a season.

My daughter got into several colleges she otherwise would not have gotten into because of soccer and ECNL showcases, so trips like these were not much of a price to pay in the grand scheme of things. Plus, my spouse, daughter and I still have found memories of two of the trips where we had a great time checking out a different place.

The OP didn't ask about memories, they asked about how much travel was involved. Not including the travel required for the showcases is implying through omission that one weekend in NC is all you need to worry about. It isn't factually true. There is more travel than that. The value of the travel is for the individual to decide and is subjective. The actual amount of travel required of a player in ECNL is an objective truth and that amount was severely understated.

Its really not as dire as you want to make it sound. And, if a player cannot make a trip, the club easily can fill the spot.

Well, they didn't know what the league season game travel commitment is and travel seemed to be a concern so taking the question simply literally is not really providing the accurate context.

If they don't really understand the season travel schedule or commitment it is a logical conclusion to presume they may not understand the showcase schedule.

To provide the season plus anticipated showcase schedule with some caveats would provide a more complete picture of a ECNL season.
