But I would also question their supervision since the adults didn’t notice, the kids did.

Do you carry the potty with you when you are out hiking or far from the car? When a 3 year old has to go, they have to go, even when the pee before the hike.

^^She's 3 and probably desperately needed to pee and maybe the teachers weren't paying attention. She didn't do anything wrong.

Well that is what the teachers are telling OP. Nobody was with the children on the playground.

Forget the pee. The lack of supervision is enough to reconsider this daycare. They have a lot of explaining to do.

If no teacher really saw her, well OP you have a problem and the problem is that your child is unsupervised for who knows how long.

This. Totally. It is like excessive punishment in situation where a child had to be left to her own devices. They shifted the blame on her. Insane.

This and I would be very upset that she couldn’t find a teacher. I would set up and conference to ask about how kids on the playground are supervised. Let them know you will explain to your daughter the rules. But she’s three - no punishment for the first time.

This exactly.

I also agree

I first thought OP said 3rd grade but apparently age 3. That is appalling to punish a 3 year old for urinating in the wrong place, you would expect the teachers to have the kids go to the bathroom before heading outside to begin with, and regardless you would not punish the child or isolate her, you would just have a private little talk explaining out we don't do that here. Frankly, I could envision that possibly having to be done with an older child--just because bodily functions are so potentially embarrassing, best to assume ignorance on the part of the child and deal with potential other concerns later.

And what do they do when a little kid has an accident?

The more I think about it, the more riled I am that these people are allowed around children that age.
