I married a man the same age and he is one of the most mature men I know. He is a true partner in every sense of the word. Pick the person for their qualities, not their age.

The problem with the study is it's based on self-reporting, and everyone knows women complain more than men.


I've seen it with my own eyes in my family of origin. Women live longer but their quality of life deteriorates sharply. No surprise since women suffer more from osteoporosis.

It amuses me that the invariable reaction to "older men, younger women" is "do you want to be his nurse?"

If the guy needs a nurse, why is it different if he is 15 years older than you versus the same age as you? Seems like it would be worse (more difficult) if you were the same age as him, because then you're old and tired, too.

I think the real message is that women want to discard a man once he is old and useless, regardless of any age difference.

Age gap of 8 years and my DH seems too much of a fuddy duddy to me now. Who knows which one of us will do better as we age, but as someone who has dealt with elder care of parents, it is a tough slog and men die younger than women...food for thought.

Bullshit. I date younger women, because I can. As I left my 40s behind, I still like women in their 40s. As I left it way behind, that has not changed. It doesn't make me immature or creepy.
