You can thank members like Corbett Sanders and Keys Gamarra for that nonsense (it mattered not to them, because the schools in their neighborhoods were already getting plenty of money and attention), and of course Brabrand was no help at all.

And, I think Tholen also mentioned waiting for the results from the consultant before making decisions about McLean. Kind of different from her campaign.

Shrevewood parent here. This is my concern - they told us at the end of last year that FCPS would be doing a boundary study in the fall, but with the new principal, and the AP being on medical leave until recently, there has been no update or communication about this so I highly doubt anything has happened. The CIP 21-25 actually has the same timeline (boundary study being completed in the fall of 2019, and students moved in time for the next school), so I think we're basically screwed.

Meanwhile, many of the Tysons/Vienna/McLean/Great Falls schools are projected to lose enrollment over the next five years (there was a school that expected to be at 67% capacity in 2025, and several in the 70s!). I know they are going to lobby hard to stay under-enrolled because they don't want kids from our diverse community in their schools.

I wish I could say I was happy this CIP passed, but I know it's not going to do anything for us.


Yep, I'm 11:36 and a Shrevewood parent. My kids have been there since the 2012-2013 school year, and we still have more years to go. I'm discouraged by the lack of movement on this issue over the years - the CIP has noted Shrevewood's overcrowding for YEARS, and yet nothing has changed. The CIP also calls for looking at utilizing the Dunn Loring site as a school again, and still nothing. Call me a cynic...

Yes, part of Shrevewood needs to move to Stenwood, and some at Stenwood will get more vocal about not having space for more kids when the actual plans emerge. Longer-term they could reopen the Dunn Loring site if needed but that would require some extensive renovations.


I believe Timberlane is also under capacity and it is very close to Shrevewood. Any chance the neighborhood between West and Shreve Rd would be moved to Timber Lane?

And what about Lemon Road? The apartments near Whole Foods and the townhouses on Idylwood are closer to Lemon Road than to Shrevewood. Or would the AAP center snobs look down on those families?


Next to no chance any part of Shrevewood will move to Timber Lane (which already feeds to two high schools, neither of which is Marshall), and little chance any part would move to Lemon Road, which has seen a huge increase in enrollment since becoming an AAP center.

They will almost surely move some areas near the Dunn Loring Metro to Stenwood. If that increases Stenwood’s enrollment too much, part of Stenwood can move to Freedom Hill. This keeps all the changes at schools already in the GCM pyramid.
