I can trace my own coming of age through 90220. When I started watching in middle school, I was in love with Brandon and didn’t get the Dylan thing at all. (So damaged.) When I rewatched just after college, I was totally in love with Dylan. (So damaged!) When I rewatch now, I’m like don’t fall for Dylan, Brandon is the one you want. I dated a bunch of Dylan’s; then married a Brandon. Luke Perry dying relatively young — and then all of the stories about how he was a great guy — it just seems like still more bad luck for poor Dylan.

Yes and he was half Perry’s age when he died. I am super sad about this but to compare these is ridiculous. For these to be comparable, Perry would have had to have died during season 3 of 90210.

Luke was compared with James Dean from the 90210 days....it was the resemblance, similar hair do and cool bad boy persona.

He was clearly the James Dean of his era.

Seems like when a celeb from our generation passes away it hits hard especially if disease and/or drugs and alcohol were not a factor. We don't know if it was a factor with him either. Also Dylan McKay was a cool character.

DP James Dean was 24 years old. Sure 52 is young but, we all can agree Dean's death is more tragic.

52 is the new 24. Kids don't move out of their parents house until 30. Don't get married till 38 , kids at 42.

I was at Barnes and Nobel yesterday and saw a magazine cover, People or US Weekly probably. It was a picture that was hanging on my wall during the height of 90210 mania and seeing it with the accompanying headline and date of death made me cry instantly. I’m surprised by my own reaction but I’m still in a funk over this one.

A roux of us were talking about Luke over brunch today - I think it’s hitting a lot of us of the same age hard.

Really so sad.

I miss still sad about his death. From all reports - long before and now since his death - have talked about what a kind and generous man he was. So very sad.
