Go watch any Abba music videos and remember that these ladies were very much a beauty norm of their time.

+1 The styles were much classier in the past. Women could still look beautiful without showing a bunch of skin like today.
Men were way classier back in the day. Suits, nice clothes and hair. Smelled nice and treated women well.
Now American men are fat, dirty, tattooed and unkempt. Sloppy and disgusting. European men are much classier and easier to take seriously.
Treated women well?! Are you kidding me?! I assume you’re talking about the 50s and 60s, before the women’s rights movement, when men allowed women to be barefoot and pregnant and that’s about it.
You’re delusional.

Yeah, the fashion of the time was unflattering for women. This was the era when men would get lusty over women’s ankles. Interestingly, men were actually quite dapper dressers during the 1800s.
Anonymous wrote:No compassion, women (and men) both looked better in the past. Women took pride in their appearance across all socioeconomic statuses. Clothes were clean, pressed, hair fixed, at least a swipe of lipstick on. If you you were to fly, take a train, go to dinner, even more effort was made. Most people look like slobs and frumpy now with very little attention put into their appearance.

I think you're talking more about younger women. Older women look so much better these days. A 50 year old today probably doesn't look like a 50 year old did in 1984.
Young people were MUCH better looking in the past. When you look at old pictures from the mid-20th century, it's striking how basically everyone is good-looking, fit, well-groomed, etc. Much of the change is the obesity, lack of fitness and sloppy dress standards, in general.
Older women can go either way. A minority of older women are great at keeping themselves fit and attractive -- which was uncommon years ago when most women universally assumed the matronly lunch lady look after a certain age. On the other hand, quite a few older women let themselves go and are a sloppy heffalump mess.
In fairness. most older men are a mess too, and are often delusional about their attractiveness. It's very common for clinically obese guys in their 50s to be sincerely convinced that college-aged women want to jump their bones.
Young men are soft and dress like overgrown children.
+1 Unfortunately Americans are fatter than ever with an obesity rate close to 40% according the CDC. Each decade the obesity rate rises. There are a percentage of people who put effort into their appearance and try to stay fit, but overall Americans are unhealthier and sloppier looking as a whole than previous decades.
Young American women are mostly fat and carry around toxic victim complexes that are constantly indulged by the media and cynical public figures.
