I've been watching CNBC and they ALL wear them--Sarah Eisen, Morgan what's her name and the one brunette who is on now. I don't get it. Why do they do it? Do they think viewers don't notice? Or do they simply not care?
Looks totally trashy.
Why are noticeably cosmeticized eyelashes bad, but noticeably cosmeticized lip color isn't? Or do you object to that also?

They look wonderful for important events where you are in full makeup, have your hair done, and are wearing standout clothes. And they make you photograph and televise better. However, day-to-day they can be a little over the top and distracting, and it will harm your natural lashes somewhat if done consistently over the longterm. My advice, just as with hair, makeup, and nails, keep it natural in ordinary life, and go big for important events. Also, consider going to a makeup artist to have temporary false lashes applied the right way, when attending an important event, rather than having more permanent lash extensions done. Unless you work daily in front of a camera, there is really no reason to sport false lashes or extensions 24/7 for months on end.

Do people not use eyelash curlers anymore??
Instead of gluing your lashes on, there are many great mascaras available that have the ability to open up your eyes.
A good, inexpensive one would be “Falsies@“ by Maybelliene I think.
Anonymous wrote:False eyelashes have been the standard for tv and movies for awhile. Screen makeup techniques come from stage makeup, where features have to be overly exaggerated or else you can't see them. If someone were to go on tv wearing regular makeup and no falsies they would look very strange. You really need all the lashes, eyeliner, bronzer, highlighter, etc or else your face just looks like a blank circle and you can't convey facial expressions as well. Same with Instagram, those makeup techniques also come from stage makeup.
What I find scarier is that girls now use these stage makeup techniques for every day makeup, and it looks awful. My friends would always laugh at how my stage makeup looked up close- it's super scary with all the contouring and crazy colors, and it's pancaked on- but now that's exactly what I see women and girls wearing in person all the time.
And like PP said, they do rip out your lashes. When I was a performer, I knew many women who lost their eyelashes because we had to wear falsies almost every day. I still have a patch on one lid that doesn't grow in right. Ah, the price we pay for showbiz.....
