Wegmans l’original (Dulles) has the sheriff’s deputies out in the parking lot again, thankfully. No wonder they closed down the childcare with this lot around here. I have seen more than one adult lose it in there let alone children.

I don’t get this sanitized upper middle class American view of children especially when adults don’t have common courtesy when it comes to driving or being on phones in public. My kid is 2 and has been a quiet, cheerful grocery store tag along since birth. He’s never been loud or touched things he shouldn’t. Once he began crying at Target (no idea why) and we hustled out of there immediately. Kids can go places that aren’t designated kid places and you don’t need to glare at my 2 year old for simply existing. In fact, it’s healthy for them to go about normal life with their parents.

Because this is a situation where it's not the more the merrier. There is only so much space in store aisles and the more people in each party, the less space there is for others. Not to mention that these people typically aren't aware of others and don't let others pass.

I don't care if other people do it, but no way for me. I leave DH and the kids at home when I shop. I see couples with kids shopping all the time and know it would drive me crazy to do that.

My husband just suggested we all go together to the grocery store right now, I would rather stay myself in the eye. Then I remembered this thread and doubled down no. He’s going by himself.

WTF... people aren't allowed to grocery shop...whether they're single in their life circumstances or just alone because the family is doing something more interesting? Hands down the strangest thing I've read on here and I've read a lot of strange things over the years.

I'm alone and never realized other shopper's would give me a thought. A little embarrassed now, especially as I'm doing this week's grocery shop on Christmas.
