Because Montgomery County is the most successful of the D.C area MD counties? If you want to throw in PG it’s hardly a fair fight (for MD) but sure go right ahead.

Also for the people saying PG is being put down for it’s racial status - no. It’s just not a great area to buy property for appreciation and investment.

Many HQ are in the city but many of the research facilities are in PG. FDA, USDA, TTB, ATF, NASA, NARA, Smithsonian, NOAA..... There are lots of things going on in PG beyond strip malls and poverty.

No it's not. The only place I have found it is hard to sell a job is in DC. People don't want to live in or commute to DC and we have a hard time placing jobs there.

As someone who was glad to leave Maryland for Virginia, I am very happy to hear that PG will get some benefit out of Amazon's HQ decision. I grew up in PG and while it is the armpit of the DC metro area, I have a fondness for it that I will carry with me into old age. I hope PG maximizes the potential for this economic development, and that the residents of PG gains substantial benefits from it.

+1. I love how all the Maryland boosters said having to cross a bridge was so awful - how it made Virginia "so far removed" from DC and the rest of the area. It's like they'd never seen rivers in Brussels, Buenos Aires, London or Hong Kong. But now that Amazon is coming to Crystal City, suddenly it's "Oh PG is gonna benefit! We're right over the bridge!"

We have no problem recruiting talent at our Agency in College Park. It’s on metro but there is also plenty of parking if you choose to drive.
