This is me but with another side. I made for myself, 3 different ways for this year! What skipping is pecan pie, which I also like but another where ends up just me eating whole pie.

I’ll make corn casserole and regular cranberry sauce (just cranberries boiled in water and sugar, instead of the cranberry relish being served tomorrow) a few days later. Instead of trying to cram everything onto the table at once, I let a few dishes take a “back seat” and enjoy them later on. We sometimes have a green bean casserole a few weeks later as well, but not always.

Skipping turkey and pies. Making short ribs and cheesecakes plus pumpkin trifle instead.

Skipping turkey. No one in our family likes it.

Same. Which means stuffing & pie for me.

Another reason to make the stuffing with cornbread, which is better, anyway.

Cornbread is vile.

Proper stuffing uses sour dough.

I think this is the very thread. Page one at 9:02 a.m. Well, the second post at 9:02 a.m.

That person posted the following:

Turkey. It's always dry to the point of gagging. Also pumpkin pie. Heavy and too sweet. I'd rather have a ripe pear with some smoked gouda and a tiny glass of Frangelico hazelnut cordial, so that's what I'll do. I'm taking them.

No, dear. You must be new here. The reference is a DCUM classic.

It's just me, DH and the kids this year, and everyone unanimously agreed that we don't really like turkey. We're doing a seafood feast with lobster, crab legs, shrimp and sides. I can't wait!

+1. We’re doing Indian vegetarian this year. Nobody likes turkey in our house.

I host, and make all the foods I really enjoy. The only thing I'll be skipping is the pumpkin pie, because there are so many other delicious desserts (pecan pie, apple pie, chocolate pie, and new thisbyear I made the NYT Cranberry Lemon Bars), that pumpkin pie isn't worth it. Spouse has to have it or it's not Thanksgiving, so I made it.

Nothing. I am going to taste every dish. It's not my favorite meal, with any of my favorite dishes, but that's the point. I only eat it once a year!

Subbing collard greens for the green beans I’ve done in years past
