She has NEVER had hives before. I can not figure what is going on. The doctor said that if it was a food allergy, the hives would be immediate. These hives seem to like 2:00 am. Anyone know of hives that seem to be time-linked?

It is a tough decision to make. My son did get hives from the H1N1, I believe, however, the bendryl every 4-5 hours is taking them away. He has bad asthma when he gets a mild cold, so I do not regret getting him the shot. My worry of him getting the flu and having complications exceeds my concern for the hives right now. If you have a fairly healthy 9 month old with no other health complications, simply keeping him/her away from sick people and frequent hand washing may do the trick. My daughter also received the H1N1 vaccine and had no side affects.

Just gave her Benadryl as I discovered this about an hour ago. It's possible she has bites from playing out in the leavers but my other daughter played in the yard & has no bites whatsoever.
I think 4 days is way too long to have a hive reaction... not saying she doesnt have hives, but I dont think it can be from the mist.

Is this considered a mild reaction? do they recommend the second dose? I'm unclear on whether or not hives are a big deal in this situation. Obviously they are not life threatening, just curious as to what the deal is...

I am a 47 year old female with asthma. I get the seasonal flu shot every year and have never had an adverse reaction to it.
I got my seasonal vaccine in early October, no problem. I got the H1N1 injection 10 days ago and have been dealing with an increasingly worsening case of the hives and wheezing since then. I called my doctor and he said benadryl is about all you can do for it. Well, I have been taking 2 tablets every 3 hours with no relief. Then suddenly they are gone only to reappear later. I had to go to the urgent care center last night because my entire body was covered including the top of my head, face, hands, they were everywhere. My peak-flows were also dropping. They said they had never seen anything like it. Two breathing treatments and 60 mg prednisone later they released me around 8:30 pm. I looked much better and my peak flows had returned to normal. Then at 11pm another breakout. Horrible, my entire body again. I took 2 benadryl then at 1:30am I took another. Slight relief until I woke up at 3am and had to take 2 more. Woke at 7 am and took another 2 tablets. Had a great day, no break outs. Took my scheduled prednisone and was I was turning the corner. NOPE! Starting to get another breakout and I'm wheezing. Just took 2 more benadryl and now I'm off to check my peak- flow. I am going insane......![]()
I am so sorry for all the little ones going through this. My grandson had his first shot several weeks ago with no reaction, but now I'm scared for him to get the second dose.
There's got to be some allergy there to SOMETHING. Hives are a histimine response -- allergy. To what, I have no idea, but something. And where is this Google cut-and-paste from? Seems weird...
