I crashed my car after drinking in my early 20s. My friends got there before the cops and the cops let them take me home, no questions, no charges. Such a lesson learned, never drank and drove again. I was young and stupid and it could have seriously damaged my future, as I had landed a good job after college.

Once moved from total nosebleed seats to front row for a Madonna concert back when she was still amazing and relevant.

Getting into a top-tier university, which changed the trajectory of my entire life on every level. Got me out of a small town. I definitely worked to get there and deserved to be there, but so much of college admissions is also luck. 100 other kids could have filled my spot and done just as well as me.

I got through my childhood fraught with sexual and physical abuse, to become a (relatively) normal human being.m

I met my DH. He is amazing. We had my daughter. She is amazing. Life is weird.

My dad. As a girl in a very repressive, male dominated culture that did not value girls (which seems to be the way of the world right now), it was amazing to have a father who was my champion and gave me the freedom to live life the way I wanted to. He was the same with his sister, his wife, his DILs and his granddaughters, nieces..etc. An amazing man who changed the way all men think in my own family and my extended family.

Thank you dad for letting me fly and live and supporting me in all my decisions. You were a true feminist who valued all women - regardless of their marital status, work status and motherhood status.

This is morbid, but here goes: I was living in Boston and was supposed to have a work trip to LA on 9/11. I was originally booked for the 8:14 United flight, BOS to LAX (the second plane to crash into the WTC) but the meeting got cancelled two weeks beforehand and so I didn’t end up taking the trip.

I would’ve died had the meeting not been cancelled. I still have feelings of survivor’s guilt.

My boyfriend at the time showed up on a Friday night and dumped me. I went to a bar with a friend and met my DH. I always wanted to track that old boyfriend down and thank him!

So lucky that I was born to the one sibling out of three who managed to get out of his village in rural India and get a well paid job in the city, who went on to get his graduate degree.

I got to go to the best schools in the world.

I met my husband by total chance.
