This takes me back to our trips to the library when dd was little. So much fun to be able to pick out books at the library!Anonymous wrote:OP, when the baby is a little older you can also foster their love of reading at the library. Children's story time could be your special time together.
Some of my favorite kids' books were hand-me-downs.Anonymous wrote:I was with you until I got to the part about it being $200 worth of books. Slow down Nelly! You'll get a tonnnnn more books at your shower and when he's born. My son is 2.5 and he still gets random books in the mail from relatives.
Yes, OP, sounds like your husband acted like a jerk but the way you describe this incident suggests that you have a problem with spending that is frustrating your husband. You really need to look at that.Anonymous wrote:I get that he shouldn't have yelled at you, but honestly you're going a little overboard here. I'm a book fiend, and I can't remember ever spending that much in one trip, especially for kids books. You both messed up here, and it may be time for you to watch your spending.

No wonder your husband was mad. Did he know that was your goal for the weekend? I can't imagine announcing that to my husband.

BUT, if you live in DC you can get free books sent every month from birth to 5 years old. Through Dolly Parton’s foundation. It’s an amazing amount of books. So do that, OP, if it’s an option. It’s through DCPL.

Most of the people in DC are too wealthy for those books.
I hope that you are not a typical dcum poster using something meant for poor and destitute families for you rich self.

If OP is a person who has $200 to spend on baby books, she should not be taking advantage of Dolly Parton's charity.
It would be akin to parking is the handicap space because you are borrowing grandpa's car today.
