Because soccer is a two-way street. Players show interest in a program for the following year by coming to ID sessions.

Except Loudoun has had success against future DA and/or ECNL teams in past tournaments. At older ages Loudoun always suffered from a talent drain because they lacked a pathway beyond ODP and occasional National League appearances. I think they will retain players and their players have always done well when they moved to ECNL clubs in the past.

This is a valid point that may explain some of their struggles, but it is also valid to observe the fact that Loudoun teams struggle in ECNL. As for the courtesy angle, there were multiple posts in girls DA thread on these boards that VDA will really struggle and is the worst ECNL program in the area, but Loudoun would be doing amazing because they are really strong. Also, some Loudoun advocates (don't know if parents or disgruntled coaches) were trashing Washington Spirit and claiming that Loudoun players that left for Spirit will regret their decision.

WAGS 07 Girls: 5 flights

Loudoun: Top flight
Great Falls Reston: 2nd flight
Arlington Soccer: 3rd flight

Appears that WAGS got it exactly right, but where are McLean and FCV playing?

McLean obviously would have been Top flight, but FCV 3rd (or 4th) flight maybe? Any thoughts?

Will be interesting to see how these 3 teams fare this weekend given their rankings and the discussion here.

I don't have a kid in Loudoun and never have, so this is just an objective comment. Loudoun is new to the ECNL. VDA came from the DA, so they have some experience with the difference in leave of the league. Loudoun players do not. It's a faster pace of play with a higher level of competition.

If WS locks up GFR girls early. FCV is in real trouble. They can't beat GFR now. GFR beat them 3-0 last fall.

^^ this makes sense -07s is going to be different with so many of the players DA wants to pick up packed in two ecnl spots
- with FCV and arlington next door and weaker, word will travel fast once you see their top players show at early ecnl IDs to at least check it out
-WS better start handing out offers at Xmas to GFR girls to lock them up

FCV always wanes nostalgic for the NT callups who came to FCV back when the club was the only option for top players.

The market has changed this past year and now top players have many options just miles down Route 7 in either direction. Now FCV has to compete based on team strength, facilities, development and other factors. Uh oh.

Several of FCV players had youth national teams call ups. Who would impress college coaches more (1) a girl from ECNL team or (2) a girl who was on a youth national team? This might not affect an average player, but it is a draw for very top players.
