But on another note: Osaka barely claims her Haitian roots

Thats because all the commentators were siding towards Serena to win. Chris Evert, Pam Shriver and Mary Joe Fernandez should not be allowed as commentators going forward if they are biased towards a player. They should be neutral.

Did you even watch the post match? Serena was very gracious to the point of making sure that the crowd recognized Naomi’s win and not boo anymore.
Stop making up stuff that didn’t happen.
Yes I watched the entire post match coverage. Serena said that Osaka played “well”
which was just absurd. Serena got her ass nicked and she couldn’t acknowledge that she was outplayed in every facet of the game? Her feeble “don’t boo” nonsense was pathetic.
She also said that Osaka was composed and that she (Serena) could learn a lot from Osaka. I guess you missed that part...... I’m not understanding why you would be criticizing how Serena treated Osaka. She gave her a big hug at the end of the match and congratulated her multiple times.
Did you watch Osaka’s press conference too or just Serena’s? Osaka said the hug meant a lot to her and she felt deeply for Serena because she knew how much to loss hurt her.
Serena has shown nothing but respect for Naomi who idiolizes her.
+1. I have no problem with what Serena did. She was a competitor and sometimes that happens. She meant no disrespect to Naomi. Serena is a great champion! Deal with it.

I know the commentators were saying that the men do a lot worse. That said, the way she threw the racket and calling the ump a "thief' were pretty awful to me. Do the men call the umps names? To me, calling him a thief--telling him that he stole her point-was pretty bad. That's worse to me that profanity or vulgarity. It's not the same thing as calling him a mf or something like that.
She was way out of line and her first interview was not very good. Later, her words in an interview were better. But, after the tournament, when she was interviewed at the presser, she was complaining about sexism. There may be sexism, but that was not why she lost. It was not a good look for her--especially when she has done so well. And, it certainly diminished Osaka's win. Poor Sport, Serena.

She was so classy at the ceremony and wanted the focus to be on Naomi. She was hugging and reassuring her when the crowd was booing. She told the crowd to stop booing and remember that this is Naomi’s first grand slam. The commentators all said that she she should have gotten a warning instead of a game penalty since she likely didn’t realize that would be the result. They also agreed with her that men have done much worse and not gotten a penalty like this. One of the reporters asked her how she would explain this to her daughter when she’s older and Serena said that she doubted she would have to explain something that happened on some date in 2018 and the reporter said oh I think you will. How rude! Serena explained her position very well and said that even if it didn’t work out for her, maybe the next person (ie woman) won’t face the same consequence. She also said that the umpire has always been a good umpire. She did talk about how well Naomi played and knew she was outplayed. She just wanted a fair shot.
You’re too stupid to bother responding to.
