I am a democrat that would vote for a monkey over trump but would be appalled if the D's nominated Franken. Almost appalled enough to say eff them all as a woman.

I understand that and I think it would be a mistake to nominate him.

I also think he got railroaded. The woman who accused him conveniently went on to be paid by conservative media. I am not convinced it happened as she claims. I mean, based on the evidence presented, he had to resign, but it is all very suspect.

Seven women. Of varying political dispositions. Are you a man or a woman? I'm really over the brand of liberal man that rises up to defend people like Franken.

OK, I'm going to be honest that I had actually forgotten that the other allegations happened. I was going through a personal crisis at that point and hadn't tracked this as closely as some others.

I just read the Time article about the accusations. several of his accusers were unnamed. I still am not sure even those named rose to the level of him losing his seat. If the allegations are true, yes, he's skeevy. I just still feel like some of this was overblown.

He did the right thing resigning as quickly as he did. He just never had a chance to try to disprove anything.

He didn't really resign quickly. But regardless. I don't want to vote for someone skeevy.

Then you must hate voting for anyone. All politicians are skeevy, conniving, and scheming to some degree. I know guy who went into the military simply so they could run as a "veteran." They are also more psychopathic and narcissistic than your average citizen. It's what draws them to politics in the first place.

Ok. Personally I'm going to try very very very hard to not vote for someone that has a known record of degrading women in any capacity. Have to start somewhere.

Mike Pence is your candidate

Stripping women of their rights is degrading.

What rights did Mike Pence strip from women?

I like Biden. He is going to be 78 at the time of the 2020 inauguration. Nope. Too old. It’s time to look past white Boomers for leadership. There is a lot to be excited about in the younger generation. Tammi Duckworth and Kampala Harris top my list. I am liking Beto O’Rourke as a possible VP. But someone under 60.

THIS. We need fresher blood. Of course, the DNC did such a poor job for so many years developing young talent that we are still talking about potential octogenarian presidents.

I do not think DNC did any poor job. There are at least 10 or more qualified person I can think of. It is just that some people cannot see past Biden/Sanders. I believe Duckworth, Gillibrand, Ted Lieu, Warren, Booker, Kamala Harris, O'Malley, Cuomo, Blasio, Chris Murphey, Schiff, Tim Kaine, Eric Salwell Michelle Obama or Klobuchar would be a fine President.

Fox News still talks about her daily as if she is the biggest traitor and threat to our country. The hate for her is way too strong.

Yeah like I said, so convinced she's a narcissistic devil you think a 73 year old woman who was just lost the election in the most humiliating way in modern history is going to do what no presidential candidate has done since 1956, ie, run in a subsequent election after having lost one. This is not going to happen, I don't know what boogeyman you will replace her with but she's gone, you killed her, she's never going to be president.

The last time it was successful BTW was 1892!

You’re weird. Why would you assume I mean she’s narcisstic devil?? I say it because she’s proven to be ambitious (a good thing) and a fighter, who knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to go for it.

You can thank Obama for that. In his 8 years democrats lost over 1000 seats in federal and local government. Quite a thin bench left with anyone having marketable experience. Self destructive moves.

And she is 28. So let’s do some math. 2024 or 2028, depending on her birthday.

Right. Not 2020, though, which makes her name Irrelevant here.

Who knows? If HRC mobilizes the non-Democratic Socialists, scraps the Perez-Ellison etc positions on illegal immigration, proposes federal funding for states and jurisdictions to fund illegals, UAC through ORR, separates funding for illegal's medical., etc she'd be a shoe-in.

The official party position on illegal immigration has changed. Run with the old position and she'd win. Boogeyman? Nixon. I was too young to vote for JFK or LBJ. People voted for him because they thought Goldwater was going to drag the USA further into Vietnam instead of pulling out.

Delaney's positioning himself on the party line opening the way for another Trump.

No way. Look at how many people voted for trump simply because they hated Hillary. we can’t risk this again. And I say this as someone who thinks Hillary would be a great president.

I believe Hillary can win 2020. I would vote for again and this time most of the media attack on her would not stick after what people have seen from Trump.

That said I do not think she would run.

I do not think she should run. She had her chance. Plus, like Biden, she will be too old. Democrats need someone (relatively) young.

I am amazed at the latent anti-powerful-women syndrome many people posses. Your post, even though is not anti-Hillary still paints her in a negative light if she decides to run again? Why should a qualified woman wanting to vie for a role she is fit for considered such a bad thing?

I don’t know where you’re getting that from. In no way did I paint her in a negative light. I simple stated how much she is hated by the right. I loved Hillary, voted for her against Obama and of course voted for her against trump. I wanted nothing more than to have her be the first woman president and was hoping I would witness her making history. I would love for her to be president but that’s not the reality we live in and I am concerned about the future of our democracy, so I would not want to risk it as we already saw what happened in 2016. Where did I say a woman running is a bad thing??

I also like Biden. Volunteered on his Senate campaign once upon a time. Concur that he is too old. I think his time has passed, as much as I personally like him. If he’s the nominee, i’d happily vote for him, but I just don’t think it is going to happen.

Beto definitely has potential. I am pulling for him to get Cruz out of the senate. That would be beautiful.
