When you approach travel this way, anyplace is interesting. Really! I find the coolest stuff- small sculptures in tiny little parks, local art and crafts and homemade edibles (small gas stations are eat for this, they'll have locally made pickled veggies in jars and jellies and cookies and stuff), little docks and benches to sit on and look at things go by. I have been to "impressive" places (India, Venice, blah blah) but just roaming around a town, going where I feel like, exploring it and trying to get a feel for it makes anywhere at all really cool. Everywhere is unique in its own way, you just have to key in to what makes it special.
