I think when you first start out in the dating world, physical attraction is THE most powerful influence in who you will consider dating. That goes for both men and women. Ever dated a person that you thought was hot as hell only to stop being attracted to them after you get to know them a little better? It happens.
After you get a little experience under your belt, you begin to truly value personal traits like humor, personal responsibility, reliability, consideration, compatibility. There is something about this pairing that works well for this couple. It goes beyond skin deep.

There’s a thread on here titled “I get why she’s single”. Women write about their hot single friends who are absolute pain in the asses. This girl wasn’t and she is pretty. Simple.

I almost married a 10, and I am a 6. DEcided I wanted a more responsible dad for my kids.
Why did he date me? Not sure -- his last girl friend was a 3. But she and I are both genius level mathematicians, so maybe that was his thing. We also had great sexual chemistry.
