I dislike the image that she floats so high above the world that she doesn't have to get out there and shill like all the other celebrities, but her fans seem to love her being up on the mountaintop.
Obviously she doesn't as she has not missed not one coin doing it her way.
Oh, I get that. I just find it strange that she's allowed a complete pass on doing anything to promote her work when everyone else gets out there and sings on shows, appears to talk about their albums, etc. Sure, she can sit back and let only music and performances on her own terms (making a bundle) speak for her; that's fine. Like I said--it's a kind of genius that she uses silence and absence to create mystique. I just suspect there isn't some deep goddess behind the silence whose every song needs to be parsed for hidden meanings. Some of her fans seem to think so.

+1 I don't care for her music anymore, but she's rather inoffensive when it comes to celebrities - no drugs, no affairs, no "leaked" sex tapes, no racist/sexist offensive rants, no nasty outbursts to fans. It doesn't appear that she slept her way to the top. So she didn't finish high school - neither did Jennifer Lawrence and people seem unbothered. All the hate Beyonce gets makes me want to be defensive of her - not like she needs it though.
This! I don’t know why (though I have my suspicions) people hold her to a higher standard than every other famous person
Nailed it. And for that PP who said she slept her way to the top by marrying Jay-Z, you are completely wrong. Beyonce upgraded him. He was on the Rappers' retirement train when he hooked his latch to her star. Without Beyonce Jay-Z would still be rapping about the Marcy projects.
I'm not a fan of hers' but I can't knock the hustle She has crafted an allure that appeals to her fans and haters alike. She has made astute business decisions that have increased her net worth 100 fold. And she still reps her home town on the regular. She hasn't gone all Hollywood or turned into a NYC girl.
Even if you don't like her music, what has she done to make people hate her? I actually use to hate her, but I realized I was just jealous.
I'm a huge Beyonce fan and DC fan from the beginning like 90s and this is dead wrong. I remember when I saw her video of Crazy in love come out as a teen with Jay-z. She has worked extremely hard, but almost all of her work since that song has been with him/about him in some way. I'm not even a huge fan of his, but so much of her career/songs have revolved around him. I'll never forget the day I saw the Crazy in Love video and couldn't believe that's how she launched her career. (complete album about being dangerously in love) Love her though!!
You may be a fan of Beyonce but clearly not one of Jay-z. When they met he hadnt had a radio hit in some time. He was breaking up the Roc family Dirty South rap was on the comeup and lil Wayne was making a name for himself.
She may have focused her music on him. And that's probably because she was in love. But in doing that, she brought him back into the limelight.
They helped each other. She made him legit, brought him mainstream, and he gave her street cred.

Yep, her shows are explicit and we tell young girls of color to look to her and then complain they are viewed as sexual objects
This is insane. She's a grown woman. She sings about sexuality in a way that is empowering for women. I mean, are you some weirdo who has sex through a hole in a sheet and clutches your pearls about Madonna, Britney, Gaga, Alanis, Prince, Cyndi, and basically every other frickin pop star? Do you realize sex is part of life? Are you seriously trying to blame Beyonce for the hypersexualization of black girls? WTF is wrong with you?
She has used her power to shed light on issues of racism and sexism and is contributing a rich volume of work to our culture. You don't have to like it, but your criticism is mindless.

She likely goes on living her best life #unbothered by the people in this thread. Just as Taylor Swift doesn't care that I think she is trash.
Anonymous wrote:What an absolutely ridiculous question. You obviously already know the answer to this, I guess you just wanted to create a bash beyonce thread. Am I the only person on the planet who feels this way?And no, I'm not beyhive or a stan or any of those things, just think this is a ridiculous post.

I'm the first PP in the little thread above, and yes, I find most pop culture vulgar. This isn't about Beyonce in particular. And just because I find these shows vulgar, it doesn't mean I am afraid of sex, or whatever you are implying. I strongly disagree with you that these artists describe sexuality in a way that is empowering for woman - actually I think exactly the opposite. And since I'm not the other PP, I don't have any opinions on the hypersexualization of black girls.
