They only had 3 meetings, and they announced the dates less than a week before they occurred.

Honestly, this sounds like a done deal without a vote where input does not matter.

The county is having community meetings this month to introduce a plan to explore turning the Fairfax County Parkway into a toll road and/or HOV lanes.

Please post date/time/location of the meeting so we can let our elected officials know how stupid this idea is.

It is on their Facebook page.

They are not publicizing it otherwise, so this is one of those slip it through under the radar moves.

I live in Fairfax County and just got a $900 water bill. A good 1/2 of it was fees and taxes. The sooner I'm out of here the better.

The concept they are introducing is to turn it into a toll road from Reston all the way to Fort Belvoir.

How can they turn this road into a toll road?

Large sections of the FC parkway are mostly residential connections. There are also large sections (through Burke and Fairfax Station for example) that are exclusively local traffic.

Did anyone attend the meeting at Sangster?

NOT ALL of Virginia is subject to this cost. You voted for it and supported the Governor with his office. Tolls on the Fairfax County/Springfield-Franconia Parkway is just part of that "transportation help" you want and that legislation. I suspect nightime and COB Friday legislation has come back to reach out to you. The only solution: Leave. We are.

Thank you for posting this.

Is there a way to rescind this? We are newer to the area and have never heard if such a thing.

+100

We bought in Glover Park. My house is small and old, but my city services are solid and I love my 15 minute bus commute to the office! Time to pay us, road users. You want that big new construction house in FCO? You gotta pay the piper or go degrade yourself at the slug line.

or work at home like me

If it’s local traffic why not charge the people using it? That’s the way tolls work. The people who use it pay for it.

Because we've already paid for it via taxes. It makes no sense for us to have to pay a toll in order to drive the road that we already paid for.

No to mention the neighborhoods and businesses are built right up to the edge. There is literally nowhere to put the entrance/ext points for limited access and there is no land to reroute all the current roads that intersect it that no longer could.
