True that. Also whiter than any school outside upper NW ... how did that happen?

Janney and Mann are quite similar, although Mann unfortunately feeds to Hardy while Janney is in Deal. Lafayette is very strong. Murch is strong, but it's not exactly in the top drawer with Janney and Mann.
Why do people (or a person) have to keep repeating this - there is nothing unfortunate about being fed to Hardy. Given some of the downsides of larger schools some might actually prefer Hardy which is not even half as large as Deal.
I laugh when people boost Hardy, knowing that if they had the choice of Deal vs. Hardy, they would choose Deal 98 out of 100 times.![]()

Dream on. Sorry that you can't afford to buy in AU Park. But you can pretend.
Anonymous wrote:Also recommend looking beyond the outdated (if it ever had any merit!) JKLM world. Hearst, Ross and Eaton (renovation to get through there, though) are great, too. You do have to consider the middle and high school path but Hardy is a good option.

but as a Murch parent, your kid will still go to Deal. So enjoy the soapbox.

Um, what makes Mann so much better than Murch? They're within 3-5 percentage points on the PARCC. And Murch is about to open an amazing new modernized facility.

That will lure some students from Deal. Jefferson used to have a stellar math-science program. All these schools are in walking distance from Metro Stations. And it’s OK to have minority children in abundance. Their families want successful schools and children too.
Growing up I can remember when Jefferson Junior High and Hines Junior High used to be the #1 Top middle schools to get in and Deal Junior High at the time was good but not as great as the other 2 schools. The only way to enter or get excepted was if your GPA was a 3.0 or better.
When was this? Jus asking our of curiosity. It was my understanding that Deal has been the most coveted MS for over 40 years (hence, why Carter sent his kid there in the 70s). I think the WH would have have technically been zoned for Hine...
Carter sent his kid to Hardy.
And the White House was in fact zoned for Stevens ES and Hardy MS, not Hine. Now it's zoned for Francis-Stevens and Cardozo.
Carter was the kind of guy that not only would he send his kid to public, he wouldn't pull strings to get OOB placement.
