I think at least part of it is this; so many right wingers have had their brains figuratively bludgeoned out of their heads. Did you ever have a conversation with these people? The way they talk about “the truth,” it’s like there talking about messages received from aliens tweeting on a secret frequency. There’s no critical thinking, but there are massive doses of fear.
