How did everyone get the GBRS score? Did you just ask your child's teacher?

But what is point to apply for middle school? He can register for any courses he wants, yes? What is the advantage of AAP designation in middle school?

NP. I don't have a dog in this fight because I don't have a second grader this year, but depending on where you live, some kids can choose different middle schools if they are accepted to AAP. Where we live, if you're non-AAP, you go to Stone MS, whereas AAP kids go to Rocky Run.

We are zoned for Rachel Carson anyway. The benefit would be taking AAP level Math, science and the like, vs regular or honors. He can choose courses but only up to a certain level. We tried, for example, because he is taking Alegbra 1 in private (6th) and without the AAP, he moves backwards a bit in math.

I don't think the test scores are the issue so I wouldn't take another IQ test.. Read the other thread where child in private school had really high scores and was rejected.

Her Classroom teacher recommended level 60 books for her. She is an avid reader. It can be a little tricky finding level 60 books with appropriate content for her age.

I know they don’t accept WIPPSI but AART teacher recommended submitting it. Been receiving level 2 services in reading and maths since Kindergarten.

The wait was crazy anxious!

They don't take WPPSI into account. And did they really test your kid all the way up to a 60 DRA or is that a typo. There was a thread recently where someone claimed they were not allowed to test beyond a 38.

I'm not the post above, but my second grader was tested at a DRA of 40. I think some schools reassess the kids they are referring so they have a current/middle of the year reading assessment score -- not just the one from the beginning of the year. But... that is my assumption.
