It was heartbreaking, but I managed to round up some neighbor kids (non-classmates who were older/younger, and siblings of daughter's friends, etc.) and we went on with the party. Everybody had a lot of fun!
My son was well-liked, so I tried not to take it personally and chalked it up to busy schedules, but it's hard not feel feel bad.

I think the Saturday or Sunday of that weekend is a bad time as many, at least in our area, people will still be away. The Monday before school begins might be okay but you do realize it's Easter weekend and many people have religious and family obligations right?
The party is on Easter weekend?
Who said it was on Easter weekend?!?
It’s the weekend after spring break, ergo Easter weekend.
Completely depends on the particular school's Spring Break schedule, some are the week before Easter, some after. Some not anywhere near Easter.

Why do you think your son is well-liked? Is HE invited to birthday parties where it's not "invite the whole class"?

There you go. People need a quiet weekend for once. Bad timing.[/quote

Some are returning home late Sat or even Sun afternoon. Difficult time to gather everyone.
