No, it is not like suffocating.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:It most definitely is not death by suffocation. The cause is asphyxiation. These are not the same. When people die of carbon monoxide, asphyxiation. When plane passengers pass out and die because their cabin de-pressurizes, asphyxiation. For example, see the death of Payne Stewart. Nitrogen, helium - basically inert gases - all work. Look up ‘exit bag’. The method is commonly used by those seeking a simple and painless end-of-life. So maybe novel for state sanctioned penalties, but in no way novel otherwise.Anonymous wrote:Nitrogen execution is death by suffocation, not painless. I don't know why they did not consider carbon monoxide.
It’s like suffocating. The tissues have no oxygen. That is painful, especially in the muscles (like a heart attack).

We should make it a streamlined process.

Add child abusers to that list. I truly don't understand the minds of anti-capital punishment people.
We have executed too many innocent people to responsibly use the death penalty.
We have allowed too many innocent people to be killed by allowing violent repeat criminals to walk freely.
That's a completely different issue than the state killing innocent people. And you know it.
Keep violent repeat criminals locked up. No one is going to argue with that.
It's terrible to lock up someone innocent. But once the state deliberately kills someone innocent it verges into horror.
And when there is a system that overwhelmingly kills one race over another for the same or similar crimes, then you have a matter of injustice. That is yet another reason to get rid of this barbaric practice.
