I’ve had ibs d as long as I could remember. I was constantly in trouble for “playing” in the bathroom as an elementary student, but I finished my class work so fast (and didn’t need to hear the lecture to be able to do it), that my middle school teachers didn’t care. During high school, the nurse clued in to what was going on the third time a particular teacher sent me to her because he didn’t think anyone should need more than 4 minutes in the bathroom, while I needed up to 15 at the time, and it was also several times per day. She was amazing, helping me eliminate most foods for a month, then slowly add in one every couple days, as long as it didn’t create side effects. I still have bad days, and I’m so glad I don’t have to be around all of you who have no clue and are being so judgmental. This kid needs permission to deal with his body’s needs, not to be in trouble or try to force it to do something else!

Tween Dd runs in the bathroom the instant she comes home. She said bathrooms are nasty and who wants to be caught being a pooper.

NP here - some kids are just open about their bodily functions. My 11 and 13 year olds tend to announce when they’re going to go. We have a small house and a lot of togetherness. No need to be so condescending.

Some of you PPs are just downright nasty. We're a pretty open family in a small house also, so it's not a big secret. Not everyone lives in a 5 bathroom mansion in Potomac.

Count me in as another person who takes long to poop. Obviously I'm not in there shitting the entire time. Some comes out, then wait for more, then wiping. YMMV
