I thought North Carolina and Tennessee were very beautiful too.
Massachusetts is also a state I am very found of- love the Cape so much.
I don’t care for Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio
I actually enjoyed the short time I lived in Birmingham, Alabama contrary to so many on here.

Have you lived there recently?
The schools are a disaster, even the "nicer" ones.
There are literally multiple homeless and druggies panhandling on every single street corner, one for each side.
There is almost no middle class. It is either poor/working poor or rich. I suppose if you are a DC person that might be what you like though.
The natural beauty is astounding and the people are nice, so it is a shame they have elected idiots and idealogues for the past few decades.
+1 My brother recently moved out of California (San Diego County). They'd finally had it with the high taxes, outrageous cost of living, marginal schools, etc. They're in Texas now - with loads of other California natives - and absolutely loving it.

I've only been to South Beach and Tampa/St Pete, and they were both cheesy beachy fun. We're definitely not a Disney family.
