I have no idea if they are Jewish. It is just a good luck wish. There's nothing faith-based in that phrase. It just means "Good Luck". Please don't try to find ugliness where there isn't any.

Congratulations! Maybe you can use some of the money you are saving on tuition to splurge on some tickets to the 'new' Cleveland Ballet!
The plan is to make a visit to Cleveland filled with lots of culture, high and low.
High - art museum, orchestra, Michael Symon restaurant
Low - A Christmas Story movie museum tour in Tremont with lunch at Sokolowskis. Kick it off with breakfast at Arabica coffee near campus or Civilaztion in Tremont or any place near the West Side Market.

I can’t say this to anyone IRL (other than DH), but I am so darn proud of him.
Beyond the grades, DC is a decent human being who, e g. takes grandma out for lunch every few weeks.

Having just gone through he process I hate to say it that perfect GPA’s and SAT’s while taking Grandma to Lunch every once and awhile is not enough. Acing Tests is only a small part of contributing to a College Campus. Kids have to be well rounded these days..
Ugh! Go away. He sounds like a fabulous kid. You sound like you are playing the college application game with your kids. They see right thru people like you. Colleges want authentic kids. Not fake well rounded kids.

Congrats OP! I went to CWRU on a hefty scholarship and graduated in ‘01. The campus is so much nicer than when I was there. I hope your kid loves Cleveland. There are a lot of great things about University Circle like super cheap student tickets to the orchestra. Lots of good restaurants too. Make sure you hit up Little Italy for Feast of the Assumption. It’s usually move in weekend.
