This. You can get a suite at the Four Seasons in NY for $850/night. Unless they're flying to Paris to stay at the Plaza Athenee, or looking at very high end all inclusive resorts (which it doesn't sound like they are, since OP is allegedly worried about restaurants and entertainment, as well), this is a troll.
The suites at Park Hyatt NYC start around $1k/night, but they would still have to share beds.

It's a trip to celebrate a friends b-day...not their honeymoons! I splurge when going out of town with my husband and will choose expensive dinners and such but don't see the point on a girls trip. Plus i wouldn't be cool with him going on ultra-luxe boys weekends so I wouldn't say yes to a major "splurge" girls weekend. I understand not wanting to eat at KFC when you're on vacation, but you guys can find awesome not super-pricey food in most locations.
Could you share where this trip is taking place?

When I was in my early 30s and 6 months pregnant, I did a short girls trip to NYC with two good friends. They made the arrangements and thought they were getting a room big enough for 4 people. But, it turned out to be a tiny room with one bed. As we were discussing the issue with the hotel staff, I debated with myself whether or not to just pay for another room. But, I ended up not because I believed that it would put a damper on the trip for them, if we were split up. (And for me, it was only one night.) It was part of the fun to stay together.
I think it should be out of the question that OP and her friend stay in a different hotel. OP can get her own room or offer to upgrade the whole group. I like the suggestion that you tell you group you found a great deal or have points to use -- and they pay just the amount they were intending to spend anyway.

One of my BFF's is a physician and the rest of us SAH or were/are in different payscales from time to time. One girls' trip she jut picked up the rental of a very nice air bnb for everyone. Later on, a second BFF who's business recently took off, picked up the tab. Maybe because we are all close, it was not taken badly but instead really appreciated.

Op is not being asked to spend 300 a night, but only her share of a 300 per night room, to be shared with 2-3 others, each spending the same. I can’t imagine being cramped in a room with other non family adults like that.

How many people are we talking about and what city are you going to? Maybe we can help you think og a way to stay somewhere nice without breaking the bank.
They want to share rooms and beds. I did that when I was in college only. There will be 5-8 girls going. They are assuming 3-4 ppl per room. At bare minimum, I would want my own bed. I’m 40, not 20.
The more I type, the more I am leaning towards not going.
I wouldn’t go. Sharing beds? No way. A room maybe, but only if I know the person very well. And even that would stink. Doesn’t sound fun for anyone.

Are we talking about staying in a hotel or resort? To me it sounds like the girls trip is out of the country. To me $300 a night hotel in the US, in a major city where the majority of time will be spent out of the room..doable. $300 in Mexico at a resort, sharing a room with 4 women and dealing with younger Spring Break type people at the hotel. Nope

Why don’t you take that $$ you were planning to drop on the hotel and take your birthday girlfriend to pineapple and pearls. God knows she deserves a nice gift for dealing with you all these years.

This is why I only travel with two of my close friends. I like to travel with people who are like minded in terms of cost, activities etc. I have another group of friends who are real penny pinchers (even though we are all gainfully employed and earning at roughly the same level) and also can't make decisions. I just don't travel with them, period.

Why can't you all stay at a hotel that has regular rooms in the $300 range and suites in the $1000 range? Everyone get their own room or pair up with whomever you want had has a similar budget.
