If you're making 1$million/year, 500K to taxes, that leaves you with 500K in disposable income. You could have paid those loans off in a year unless you're doing some crazy spending.

The Cayenne is not cheaper than the XC 90. I had an XC 90 when it first came out. What a piece of crap! Went through a transmission before it was 4 years old (so did many others). I can't tell you how many major repairs we had on that car (one was so dangerous the dealer would not permit us to take it off the lot without a tow). We finally sold it after it stranded our au pair and kids (I think it was maybe 6 years old). I'd take a Cayenne any day over an XC 90, but the Cayenne is more money. I have a BMW X5 now.

We have a pre owned Tesla and are not rich and we don't have near the income OP has. I don't think Tesla = wealthy but whatever. I also don't think most people can tell a Tesla from a Nissan, the prestige really isn't there.

NP here. Our income is more than 3x the OP's. We have a Tesla but use our Toyota minivan far more often. We did replace our 10 year old one last year with a new one. But we consider cars tools, not toys. A car gets you from one place to the other. You should focus on that - not on showing off.

BTW, the Tesla has had to go in for service far more often than the Toyota. DH predicts the minivan will outlast it.
