I do feel stupid paying $4 for a plain black coffee, so I usually don’t go to coffee shops. But if I’m meeting someone or need to stop on the road, I’m not going to use that as an excuse to essentially drink a dessert.
Do you go to decent coffee shops? How many calories do you think are in a cappuccino or a latte? How much sugar? My standard order is a macchiato. According to google, 15 calories, 0 grams of sugar, 0 grams of fat. If 15 calories is too much, you have problems
I don’t have any loyalty to a specific coffee shop since I go when I’m meeting someone or need to grab a coffee on the way to somewhere, etc., but I live in Manhattan and try to patronize smaller chains/independent places over Starbucks. It’s not that the 15 calories in your specific macchiato is a lot, but I’ve always drank black coffee, like it, and have never felt the need to switch to any other relatively low-calorie coffee drink. It takes longer and you have to wait for it, vs. they’ll just hand you the coffee. And I have no interest in the sweet stuff.
Once in a while I’ll have a latte, but that is essentially drinking a cup of milk diluted with espresso. Not something I want or need to do every day.
