First thing to try is Excedrin plus rest for 30 min-1 hour at first sign of headache.

I decided this didn't have to be the case so I asked my doctor if we could try getting me off it. We lowered the dose (and took blood tests) every six weeks until I was off it. I'm fine.

I have another example with GERD, where I made diet and lifestyle changes (including mechanical ones like not eating/drinking before bedtime, and raising the bed at an angle) and kicked that, too.

I think a lot of us get put on meds for something, then just continue with the meds.

Interesting, so your thyroid is okay and you have energy? I forgot to take my synthroid the other day and I felt nauseous without it. I'm 50, been on it 12 years. Would love to be med free. GERD I can see controlling without meds.

Just turned 50
I take claritin and just started prilosec. I'm also back on the birth control pill. Wish I could kick them all.
My mother and father (heavy smoker) both took cholesterol pills, stuff for high blood pressure and my mom was on synthroid. I worry about that stuff for me, but so far so good.

I'm 52 and don't take any medication. I do take multi vitamins and some additional minerals and a probiotic though.

I take Labatelol for high blood pressure
Tramadol occasionally for arthritis pain.
I’m supposed to be taking Fosomax for oesteoporosis, but I’m scared of the side effects. I just can’t make myself take it.

Not taking meds is great. Bring active, healthy, and alive is great as well.

I agree being alive is great. I would not be alive without my meds. Without my meds, any activity would result in pain (I am not on pain meds though).

What frustrates me about this post and other posts is that people are judging others based on the meds they take. In many / most cases, it is set by your genetics.

No male in my family(I am male) with the heart problem gene (I have it) has lived past 40 without a heart attack. I am 53, no heart attack. Why? Medicine.
