I will sometimes get EVOO, because I think it tastes better (but haven't really done much comparative tasting) I believe the health benefits are identical though.

Eat butter, don't eat butter, eat eggs, don't eat eggs. Nobody really knows.
As for the taste: for salads I prefer a strong tasting evoo, but I rarely make salads with dressing. For frying/sauteing I prefer regular because of the taste.
