OP- thank you all, it's good to hear both sides. DC is a good student and gets good grades and all. I've been convinced that it will be no big deal to miss a few days.

Also, the title says 2-3 days -- there's a difference between 2 days and three days.
Of course, with some of the kids I've seen it really wont make a bit of difference one way or the other.

OP, if your child's grades are good, they can time manage, of course missing 2-3 days is totally doable. Universal is a blast. Family time is more important than anything, even school.

Letting kids stay home sick all the time, allowing them to go in late, not caring if they do homework or turn it in = not caring about school. Missing 2-3 days for a family vacation, wherever that may be, will not register with the kid that school isn't important. The PP is insane.

There are a lot of factors that could make it a bad idea or non-issue. The biggest issue, in my opinion, is long term impact -- aka high school credit courses. For example, a seventh grader taking Algebra may be more sensitive to missing time than one in Math 7, except the Algebra Honors kid is probably better in math.

In high school, I can not imagine the impact of missing several days of school in the AP classes, for example.

Before 7th grade, there was no issue. In seventh and 8th grade, it was a minor issue...9th and beyond, a much bigger issue.

If the kid is at TJHHST, it can't happen.

What kind of job do you have that you're not able to skip work for fun? (AKA vacation days.) That sounds miserable.
