Well, 40 is hardly "old," but she is 36.

She looks way older than 36. I think Kate is much more beautiful than Meghan. I actually think Meghan is homely. But good luck to them...

omg no way. only a racist would say something like that.

Meghan Markle is an objectively beautiful woman.

Kate Middleton was a pretty college student.

Huuuuge difference between the two.

Meghan Markle is incredibly cute -- classic girl next door. But "objectively beautiful"?? I can't think of many women who world deserve that title. Aishwarya Rai, Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, and Faye Dunaway in their twenties, and Monica Bellucci always... but Meghan Markle? No.

NP. I think she is. Much more so than her future Sister in Law. If you've ever seen un photo shopped pics of her, you'd know that Kate is not beautiful. More like attractive for someone ten years older than her. Girlfriend's got a LOT of wrinkles already, poor thing. She must not have good genes in that regard or else spent a lot of time in the sun in her youth.

she's black and white. Which is why people are excited ignoring that she looks white and is for all purposes white identified. This is not Lupito N'yogo becoming a princess.

She looks like a tan white girl.

Minirities who pass for white have always had the easiest time assimilating.

I don't think she herself purposely passed for white at all. I believe her when she says she is proud of being biracial.

http://www.elleuk.com/life-and-culture/news/a26855/more-than-an-other/

Even her Suits character is presented as biracial with Wendell Pierce playing her father. Her other roles were so minor that ambiguity was less about "passing" than blink and you miss her.

It's not the character she plays that makes her white identified.
She keeps her hair straight reducing the chances she'll be instantly seen as biracial and/or part black.
She largely surrounds herself by white people.
She has not spoken out about black issues.
Considering she is biracial this makes sense.
People acting like this is a "win" for minorities or black people are wrong.

Yes. I know minorities like her. They are treated as, and think of themselves as "tan white girls." The historical issues people of color face do not apply to them because they do not look very different than white people. They wear their hair straight, only hangout with white people, dress like whites people, make white people cultural references.

When you ask them about race they say race isn't really a thing.

You guys do know that many biracial people have naturally straight hair right? As an actress, I'm sure she straightens her hair to get roles. Remember, white people are scared of AA/biracial natural hair. How do you guys know who she surrounds herself with? She states Serena Williams is one her closest friends. Serena maybe be having a baby with a white dude, but she stands for blackness all day long.

Also to prove you're black you have to speak out about black issues?

Do you guys speak out about "white" issues?

What else must one do to pass the black test?

Aw are your feelings hurt that somebody spoke the truth about your idol? FYI Serena is white identified too.

PP you're disgusting. NP here. Where in the hell do you get this crap? "Serena is white identified" WTH kind of stupidity is this?

You know cause I got some free time, I'm going to play with you. In what world is Serena Williams "white identified"?

Is it her big butt?

Her CRIPT walking when winning Wimbledon?

Her donating over 3 million dollars to AA inner city tennis clubs?

Opening a school in Africa?

Is it because she wears weave?

Is it being a Jevoha's Witness?

Is it because she's worth over $150 million dollars?

I mean what is it?

In fact, please define what makes one "white identified"?

she has chosen to procreate with a white man, her daughter will l grow up predominately surrounded by white people/white culture and like her mother view blackness as a charitable cause. She likely like Meghan have a whit husband and so on any children from their and all of Serena's legacy and funds will mostly benefit white people. Live vicariously through Serena and Meghan all you want but don't for a second think they are doing anything to change anything for black people.

Yeah, I changed my mind. I don't have anymore time for you. I don't know much about Meghan, so I won't speak on her. But I know a lot about Serena. I have met her a couple of times due to work and it's clear that you are just a trolling for a fight. I won't derail this thread talking about Serena. She doesn't need me defending her (although I will), her connection to her blackness has been quite documented.

I wish Meghan and HArry good fortune.

I wish them well too. They are in love so I hope it works out for them.

That said she isn't a black women, So BLack women like your self should not be trying to claim this as a victory for black women/black people.

White People. Strange fruit you are! I'm going to assume you are white because you assumed I am black. No one is "claiming this as victory for black women black people"! Why would anyone do that? She is beautiful woman, who hopefully met her prince. No one is claiming her. I'm just trying to figure out the black identify test? What makes someone a black? If she wants to identify as white. Great! But we all know that white people like you won't let her (Just like you guys wouldn't let Tiger) That one drop rule lives on forever...

Honey you very clearly are black. The kind of black person constantly seeking white approval.
That one drop rule would say Meghan is black.
She isn't. She doesn't have two black parents. She's biracially and that's okay.
And before you say it Obama wasn't black either, he was biracial.
TIger was multiracial.

I am black, I never said I wasn't! She is BLACK and she is WHITE. The way you the way you are defending biracial-ness, one would think, you think one should be ashamed to claim the black(or the white) part of one's heritage...Are you saying that? Is that what you are saying? Cause I'm not sure what you are arguing with me about? In my posts I was wondering why someone said she (as well as Serena Williams) self identified as white. She identifies as biracial, I'm cool with that. Maybe you want it to be a win for you? And for the record (maybe you are too young, or maybe I'm too old) but the one drop rule is alive and hasn't gone anywhere. Barak Obama will tell you that himself, on many occasions he said he identified as black. Nonetheless, being biracial is not a shield from the wrath of white racism and bigotry.

Yes. Glamorous, jet setting royal couple mingling with the world's elite. Take pretty pictures in nice clothes and give people something to aspire to.

I loveit!!

That said she seems pretty manipulative and territorial she's going to get that ring. It's the best thing that will ever happen to her.

Manipulative and territorial? How so?

If you mean manipulative in the sense of calculating and media savvy, yes, I agree. But she's an actress and that comes along with the career. Plus, I think that's an actual benefit for the future wife of a prince, especially in a royal family that plays the press game heavily.

Not the same as a VF article. I'll wait.

You're right, it's not the same as a VF article. It hold much more weight than a VF article because it's on freaking Kensington Palace letterhead.

A letter is more or less forgotten by the general public. This article will garner more attention and will be remembered for the duration of this relationship and possibly longer. Meghan's face is all on this she's the only one who will deal with the embarrassment if things don't work out. I hope they do. Harry not so much. Defending her was great, but that was then and this is now. He needs to put his face to his claims.

There is so much stupid in your line of argumentation that I don't know how to help you. You must know nothing at all about the weight and import of official statements from a freaking palace compared to a sanctioned article. The press statement is official, it must use language that hews more formal but it is a remarkable move with epic impact.

+1

The royal threads bring out hate-filled, absolute idiots (including the PP who keeps going on about Meghan and Serena being "white identified").

There's no use trying to bother with the weirdo arguing that a press statement put out by Kensington palace about a relatively-new relationship is not a huge deal- more impactful than any article.
