Remember how we all "lmao" at Tea Party rallies? Look at us now. This isn't a joke.
??? Are the Tea Party people killing police officers, looting/burning stores, and physically attacking people in the streets?

Who hasn't condemned this rally? Everything I've seen here and in other media is expressing disapproval.

Please do!!! and dont let the door hit you on the way out!!
Agreed. It's time to dump the red states.
You mean Virginia, which has voted Democratic in the last three Presidential elections, has two Democratic senators, and a Democratic governor?
No I mean states that wish to secede. Red states. Richard Spencer's infecting cities in VA doesn't make it red.
I guess all the minorities living in red states are disposable to you?

There is also a group that wants to remove all war memorials throughout the country, including one in my family's cemetery near Gettysburg in which some Confederate troops are buried in a mass grave. My great, great grandfather had a simple stone tablet placed on their graves about 20 years the war to coincide with the death of his son who finally succumbed to his injuries as a Union soldier. He thought both should be honored for their valor.
Sorry, I have ancestors who fought on the wrong side of history and I don't believe they should be "honored." It is what it is -- I can't change my ancestry and the ancestors can't change their choices. I'm interested in the history, want to learn about them and their lives, but that doesn't mean I honor them for choosing to fight for a wrongful cause. We don't have to love and respect all our ancestors.
"May god have mercy on their souls" is about what I give them.
...except some of them were 12-year-old boys, who were scared shitless and did what they were told. They didn't choose to fight for a wrongful cause.
They have my sympathy, but why would I honor them? Do you honor the teenage Germans who were conscripted into the Wehrmacht in the waning days of the Nazi regime? I feel sorry for them, and don't judge them like I would a die hard Nazi, but I don't "honor" them as though they were heroes. (Similarly, do you give the same pass to children growing up on the mean streets of inner cities, who turn to crime when they feel they have no other choices - do you honor them when they make the wrong choice?)
There's a difference between trying to understand history and learn from it and holding up those who came before us as worthy of our honor and respect just because they came before us.
