Elon Musk is not liberal, he’s publicly said that he’s a mix of democrat and republican. Also, I’m not quite sure what you mean by “crazy-ville,” but I think it’s safe to assume you mean that you won’t by anything made in a liberal state (even though the people make the cars aren’t necessarily liberal, and that wouldn’t affect how they make the cars). I do agree that electric cars shouldn’t be governmentally mandated, and I’m sure Elon Musk agrees with that, because he started an electric car company rather than telling the government to illegality gas cars. I’m also not sure how electric cars are shoved in your face more than gas cars, because the biggest electric car company doesn’t run any ads. That being said, I respect your opinion, and your right to choose which kind of car you drive

It would be good to remember that OIL (as you capitalize it), is used for far more than energy. It is used in nearly everything you touch or use or walk on or drive on every single day. The tires on your car, the lipstick on your lips. The keyboard and computer you typed this message on . . . the roads and sidewalks. Your nail polish remover. Medications. Everything.
Calm down on the big oil diatribe. They do more for your life than just power you.

No, the vast majority of our oil is imported and we are importing more than before. That is because our refiners are tuned for heavy oil (not natural gas)

Reason being refining? BS You didn't read the whole article because if you did you would see there are a number of reasons, not just refining.
FYI, Canada is the largest gross exporter to the U.S. with the next three, all below 10%, being Saudi Arabia, Mexico and Venezuela. And if the barrel price gets back to a reasonable $75 you will see our production go back up.

I'm not against electric cars, but I am against the huge subsidies that electric car buyers get from the government. The government has better things to do with their money than cut checks to wealthy people who buy a $100,000 electric sports car. How about helping some poor people for a change.

A.) Nobody is shoving Teslas in your face. That comment makes no sense.
B.) Nobody has taken your choice away.
C.) No, there's no grand scheme to control you. Tesla is a company, they make cars. People buy their cars because they like them. If you don't like them, fine, don't buy one.
D.) CA = 'crazy ville?' Unhinged comment. No further commentary needed there.
E.) EPA has not taken over anyone's thought process. Pollution is actually a real thing. When people spew black smoke from their diesel powered 4x4s it actually does make people sick via PM2.5 particulates that are so fine they pass through the lung's membranes and go straight into your blood stream.
F.) You know who's sucking off of taxpayers? Oil and gas companies that have pipelines that spill and poison rivers and farmers fields, coal companies and power plants that fill rivers with toxic coal ash sludge, et cetera - and it ends up being taxpayers bearing the cost of cleanup. They privatize the profits but socialize the cost and risk. So much for free market.
And by the way:
G.) The fossil fuel industry in the US has been subsidized for over 100 years.
Those are realities. And they won't "go away.
