IMO this is a wealthy hoarder who was able to afford someone to organize her (I'm sure it is a her) clutter and display it.

I read somewhere the house actually belongs to an artist who essentially used the house as a longstanding installation piece.

Me too. Tidy piles on every surface. After that, neat stacks on the floor. It makes it easier to persuade yourself that it's not clutter and you're not a hoarder.

It's a hoarding scale... so.. hoarders?

And reformed hoarders (like me... the OP) I used to be around a 4 based on this scale anyhow, in my 20s.

I've come a LONG WAY but still struggle -- more due to overwhelming circumstances and depression, and chronic disorganization (ADHD) than from OCD/ difficulty throwing stuff away

All the clutterers and hoarders I know cover counters, tables, shelves, and other surfaces long before they toss stuff on the floor. That just looks weird in the early photos.

Good lord! I thought I was a slob but I would be crazy if either one was worse than a 2 in those pictures. Who are these people?

We were 1's before kids, 1.5-2 with two little kids in the house.

Wow, I feel so much better about myself now! I have two rooms in the house that are a 4-5 -- a spare room where all kinds of random stuff gets stashed, and the unfinished basement which is my husband's domain (and he is an actual hoarder, no exaggeration). The rooms we actually live in are 1 or 2, maybe 3 on a bad week. We have a monthly cleaning service, which forces us to pick up.

I feel like there is a big jump between 1 and 2 in both rooms.

I'm somewhere between 1 and 2. If I'm off work for a couple of days and have had time to clean, my house is at a 1. If I've been coming and going a lot, working a lot, lots of activities, I end up at 2 because I'm kind of putting things down wherever and dashing out again. (dishes and dirty clothes get washed, but not necessarily put away ASAP.)
