The ascendance of women is not the result of anything that women have done. Men are not being "outmatched" by women. The power in this world that men have always possessed is being given blindly by silly men who bleat "not all men" to seem urbane and sophisticated. One day men will wake up and realize they've become the underclass. Feminists don't seek equality ... they won't be happy until men are oppressed.

This is what I'm seeing more and more. Women want the family without a man. If they truly want kids it's going to be with some random guy, a bf, or the sperm bank. No custody battles, no exes bothering them, no ex in laws and all the other horrible dilemmas people get themselves into.
I don't see anything wrong with it. It's all about personal choices.
As a young woman, this is exactly what I want. With the way custody has been moving, it's an insane risk to both yourself and your kids to marry a man, or even have him on the birth certificate. Even in cases of extreme abuse, it is usually assumed the woman has caused "parental alienation syndrome" (with her magical mind control powers, presumably) and custody is split 50-50. Almost all abuse is carried out by men. So if you happen to make the mistake of marrying a guy who later turns out to be a child abuser, in whatever form, you are screwed, and, more importantly, your kids are screwed.
Men today are just uneccessary and more of a burden than anything else, with their lack of willingness to do equal housework and childcare. I know many women my own age who feel the same way.
It will be interesting to see what happens in the future- whether men will start putting in more effort in order to secure their genetic future. Too late for this generation, though.

The only thing that stops me is the resources I think I should need to provide the opportunities and lifestyle for any children I may have.

DH is not a human ATM. In fact, I supported him for a few years when he couldn't find a non-contract job. We're now established in our careers with a healthy HHI. He pays for our housing and I pay for everything else (utilities, food, all the household items, all our kid's stuff, and so on). I also handle over 80% of the childcare and housework while maintaining full-time equivalent employment.
