Mom here who does play video games ( although not all day) Her DH probably won't spend the whole day but, rather will enjoy the freedom of not being nagged about spending time with the kids the way that they want to spend it.

Relax a little and let the Dads ( and some moms) play video games with their kids. Unless it is every day, all day than it is not a problem to spend a few hours enjoying playing games with your kids. I think sometimes you need to back off and not treat the DH as a kid themselves.

I'm planning on making a nice breakfast at home and then ensuring that DH and D.C. spend a special day together, just the two of them, while I relax and hopefully hang out with whichever other mom friends can shake free of their families for a few hours. Then maybe we'll go out to eat at a place of DH's choosing. (In other words, no cooking or clean up for me. Win-win!)

We'll go somewhere for lunch that has "good beer" on tap... and probably grill steaks for dinner. We might buy him some pro-v1s or a gadget...

I don't do anything special. For both Mother's and Father's Days, our kids make us cards and we encourage them to do something extra nice/helpful for the special parent around the house. And we do give ourselves the option to do whatever we feel like.

Being a man, he will wink at me and hint that he'd like a BJ for this special occasion, as he does whether it's Arbor Day, Groundhog Day, Flag Day, Shrove Tuesday, or Chinese New Year.
