Great job!

A friend of my brother did this in HS. By sophomore year, he was hiring others to help out because he had so much business. Though he went to one of the Big 3, he didn't go to college and instead concentrated on his business, which is now one of the area's major landscape companies.

Who drives the trailer? His illegal employees?

OMG poor boy! How embarrassing for him

There is your answer right there. Men have gotten weak and now lawn care is deemed too dangerous.

Truth. I would feel like a failure as a parent if my kids (boys and girls) couldn't operate a lawn mower. That's nothing less than pathetic.

Seriously. My kids starting mowing the lawn at about 11. "Less dangerous"? Does he get his nails done weekly as well?

When I was in high school, I made money mowing lawns, so people weren't doing it themselves then, either.

We had a lawn service when our kids were little. We wanted to have time with them rather than time cutting grass.

Now we have one of these:

All it needs is the occasional sharpening. It's good exercise, and we can do it early in the morning, when the weather is cool, because it's quiet.

All my neighbors have a lawn service. I've been doing it for the past 35 years. I maybe ahead 200 to 300 grand.

I grew up in the 80s in California, and no one in our neighborhood mowed their own lawn. DH grew up here and also had a lawn company growing up.

Now we live in Bethesda, and DH works long hours, and we would rather spend our weekend and free time doing other things with our family. Also, considering neither of us grew up in houses where our parents did the lawn care, it never even occurred to us to not outsource this.

Anonymous wrote:There weren't as many illegals who would work cheaply in the 80s op. Now people have more demanding jobs and more excess funds, so they pay landscapers to do it. Same reason house cleaning is cheap here. It's not as cheap in other parts of the country.

I'm sure that Republicans don't hire illegals for lawn service or house cleaning. That would be so unpatriotic.

Soon, we may have to import workers from red states to mow our lawns. Maybe these are the jobs Trump promised.
