Brookland only matched 50% of their available seats. (I'm assuming this doesn't count for feeder?)
The great "no one IB is applying to HA" philosophy seems unfounded, with IB kids on the waitlist for PK3

Noticing that fact made me giggle too. Other schools have higher percentages of shut out IB pk4ers
Seriously. Other PK4 IB waitlists:
Key: 20
Lafayette: 33
Mann: 11
Murch: 10
Oyster Adams English: 34
Ross: 14
Brent PK3: 30, PK4: 29
Maury PK3: 42 PK4: 30
Peabody PK3: 45 PK4: 21
Cry me a river, Janney.
Again- this was 32 IB families and while I'm sure none of them are happy about it probably my only a handful of them are the ones "organizing." So don't attribute this to "Janney." Also- many Hill families also complaining on this thread.
Sure, but they aren't complaining that it's "unfair" or planning to storm the Bastille.
I don't know about storming the Bastille, but I think they certainly are complaining that it's unfair.
Just like many other parents all over DC shut out of their preferred schools.
We were shut out of our IB school too and I understand it is really frustrating. That being said, I'm not sure what Janney can do. However there are a lot of others schools around the city that make need to re-think their model.

And complain about it on online forums and neighborhood listservs.

One person posted on the list Serv and got 0 public responses. Hardly what I'd call "fiorming a union." An attempt - yes.
Honestly I thought the stats were pretty good this year especially since a PK class was cut. Take heart future K class - you are not a bubble year.
We young families are priced out of Janney. There's nothing we can do, even on 350k HHI to get into a home we can afford there with childcare/camp/nanny costs.
BS. Friends bought a 3-bed, 900K home IB for Janney just last year after selling their Cap Hill house for the same amount. They earn around 225K jointly. They don't pay camp costs - they use free DCPS summer school and parks and recs programs.
Yeah, we live IB for Janney and are making only 150K. Granted, we bought in 2009, the house is small, and we don't have childcare costs because one of us is a SAHP while kids are little, but if you can't afford today's AU Park prices on 350K HHI, there is something else wrong with your finances.
