It doesn't actually give 2 lottery tickets - twins only get one entry in the lottery, not two, and the class expands by one if twins get the slot, so no one is deprived of a seat.
However, I agree completely that this rant is bizarre, that her comment to/about Reid Goldstein was extremely rude, and that I find her to be the most difficult and stubborn of the school board members.
It sort of is, though. If one gets in, they expand the class. If they could expand the class, they should have given it to another lottery student, not a twin. If the family doesn't want the twins in different schools they send then to the neighborhood school. It's really that simple.

My kid is 2. I don't want to leave Arlington because it's so great for my commute, but we may have up suck it up & move to Fairfax in a few if the board doesn't vote for the Kenmore option. Ugh. And that's playing right into the SB's hands.
I have a 1 year old. We are moving out of state, and I'm not sad about it. My kid would have gotten a good education here, but I'm relieved to not be worrying about this anymore.
I'm still going to the caucus. This county needs some changes.

Not some additional, lame choice school that gets shoved down the throats of quirky kids, or a 1300-student school that is so obviously "less than" the existing schools.
How did this county squander its advantages so quickly? What a bunch of imbeciles.
