Looks like an attractive nuisance-the parents can sue and definitely have a good case. Sure they would rather have their precious baby back.

There's also a sizeable gap under the column next to the window. Lots of dangerous elements in the design of this restaurant. Too bad.

This is true, but the restaurant wasn't rotating fast. It takes one hour for the restaurant to make one full circle. So whatever the child was doing, it probably wasn't for a fraction of a second.

I was speaking about accidents involving a kid darting out behind a car, but in terms of the restaurant I agree with PP that even though the restaurant is moving slower, it might not have been a second, but if he was positioned where he was stuck it could take seconds for him to remain stuck.

It's just horrific. I don't understand people's outrage toward the parents for this accident or the Disney alligator thing. (I was really mad at the mom b/c the gorilla died, but after my initial outrage, my heart softened. All parents have bad days.) The only parent that I really see as culpable is the mom who perched her kid on top of the railing of the wild dogs. All horrific experiences for these parents.

My point is that many people put their kids at unnecessary risk by doing things like texting and driving. So I think most people who say that they would never let X, Y, Z happen are probably hypocrites. But to prove them wrong, they'd have to lose a child. I'd rather not prove them wrong, just take everyday safety more seriously, not freak happenings.

The Disney alligator incident could have been prevented, it was dark, late and the 3 year old was in the water alone where signs said to stay out. I would never let a toddler wander into an open body of water without holding my hand-especially at night. The gorilla incident could have been prevented as you should always hold a kids hand in a crowded zoo-he was unsupervised, plain and simple. The wild dog mom is completely at fault and basically killed her kid due to a stupid act. the revolving restaurant incident does not seem to be the fault of the parents as the restaurant was empty, the kid was 5 or less feet away where they could see him and the design of the rotating restaurant seems faulty and dangerous as the tables are fixed to the floor and creates an entrapment risk-which sadly in the case it did. I do not blame these parents-though with more info-may find partial fault with them too.

This story makes me want to vomit in fear, but all of you blaming the parents just make me sad. May something never ever happen to your kids because you'll spent the rest of your life blaming yourselves far worse than anyone else.

Sounds like kid got stuck when floor rotated while he was standing between the bolted down table and wall. This crushed him as the space was 4-5 inches. While the rotation is slow, it is fast enough to trap someone quick enough to not get out.
