I've saved one favorite "set" room reach child - DS's wooden train set, DD's assortment of little animal figures (some littlest pet shop but others just random). I'll also keep one bin of Legos. Those are still in active use. We have way more than 1 bin, so most will get passed along but I think they are a nice thing to have around for whenever we have kid visitors. I know I always liked playing with them at my aunt's house (her kids were much, much older than me).
