I guess it depends on your priorities. We're also one parent native Spanish speaking, and choose West over language immersion. There are other ways we're reinforcing Spanish, and we like the school otherwise.

Bethune's Spanish program isn't really immersion, not in the way its come to be expected anyway. I toured West and loved it. If I could choose between the two, it would be West hands down. Their Pre-K facilities are amazing and they have lovely caring teachers and very strong community. I definitely would have taken the spot if offered. Good luck with your decision.

Does anyone know why the PK3 wait list for the Brookland campus appears to have stalled? For the last 2 weeks or so, there doesn't appear to have been any movement, while the 16th St campus has had some movement.

We just gave up our #1 spot on the waitlist because we got into LAMB, but otherwise would have been happy going here for PK3, if solely for the Spanish immersion program and location (16th street).

I can only speak to the 16th St campus, but our experience has been very positive. It's an intimate school, one class per grade with roughly 12-18 students a class, and every kid gets a lot of individual attention. Teaching happens in small groups and teachers teach to each child's abilities as a result. Calm, supportive, warm environment. Everyone knows each other -- kids, students, administrators, parents. We're returning for another year.
