Hallelujah. Now there's hope.
How does this make smith toast, and how will this stop rapes occurring in HS?

What changes can Smith make that are not illegal?
Fox 5 News reported this- go to their their twitter homepage. Anyway here's what he could have done- tighten up the documents required. No proof of age, identity. These were unaccompanied minors, check the ICE status of everyone coming into the school system. They don't even have an address for one of the suspects. Tighten security in schools- more cameras more full time security officers. Eliminate or constant patrol of all high risk security areas like this secluded bathroom. Night school for this population-- 18 yr old freshman. A buddy system where at least two children are always travellibg together throughout the halls. I can think of more, but he's the one collecting 275k of our tax dollars and the best he could do was try to sweep this under the rug.

That he intended to break federal law and ban undocumented children, or the children of undocumented parents?
That's obviously what folks want, but he can't say that because he can't do that.
+1 Didn't they try that in AL or somewhere? Courts struck them down.
If you want the county to follow federal law and report illegal immigrants that they arrest to ICE, then they should also follow the federal law that states that public schools must educate a child regardless of immigration status. Yes, that is the law. You don't get to pick and choose which federal laws you follow. And for the record, no, I don't think MoCo should be a sanctuary county. They should report illegal immigrants who are arrested to ICE.
However, I would argue that an 18 yr old is not a child, so we shouldn't be having 18 to 21 yr olds in HS, regardless of immigration status. If they turn 18 while in HS, fine; they should be able to finish it. But, since the law only states that the we need to educate a "child", then why do we need to allow 21 yr olds in HS?
It's not, and it doesn't intend to be.
Which law are you citing, that says that we need to educate a "child"?

All anyone needs to know is how he has handled this. Every person I spoke with that went to the meeting last night thought he was pathetic. PATHETIC - 15 minutes of answering questions is all he would take despite the line of folks wanting to ask questions, that says a lot about his commitment to the community. Don't you agree????? I am sure he is getting to those index cards today....
Well, yes. But that's not because of what he said at the meeting. It's because of who went to the meeting.
And your point? He's still pathetic and you know it.
