No wonder illegals keep pouring in. They can send their children (and adult children) to excellent free education and leverage free additional services w/o paying any taxes! WTF?

It's just sick that a kid from MD would have to pay tuition in FCPS but an illegal from El Salvador can ride the system for free.

Preach! If someone is here illegally, they should not be guaranteed a free education. It's common sense. Would a US citizen who crosses the Canadian or Mexican border expect to be fed, sheltered, and educated free of charge? No way! Their butts would be sent back home pronto.
Can't say for sure about Mexico or Canada, but I've lived in several country's in Asia for work with a LEGAL presence and we always had to pay tuition.
Illegal, they'd lock you up, send you back, and send you a bill.
Seems fair for me.

There are tons of 20 year old males at this school that are in freshman classes such as World History 1, Biology and World History 1. To me this is an issue that has been ignored despite teacher protests.
This is an age issue, not an immigration issue. In my level 3 ESOL class I have freshman who were level 2 ESOL last year but I also have 20 year olds. 14 year old girls should never be in a class with 20 year old men. In my ESOL classes I have seen 19 year old men dating 14 year olds. Nothing is ever done about it. My voice has been ignored for years but FCPS has been doing this for years within ESOL classes, but they are now spreading outside ESOL as well. The only way your daughter will not have 20 year old men in their class is if they take honors classes as a previous FCPS teacher already stated.
I also teach ESOL in FCPS and have never seen anything like this. I think you are making it up.
I don't know how you don't see this as an ESOL teacher.
A 17 year old registers and takes ESOL level 1 government their freshman year. They turn 18 during the year.
Their second year when they turn 19 they don't take social studies.
Their junior year when they turn 20 and are level 3 ESOL they take a team taught world history class which half the class will be general Ed 14 year old freshman. This also happens with biology for level 3 ESOL students. No way you teach ESOL in fcps.
Sorry, but yes I do teach ESL in Fairfax. I am not saying it's impossible. We do have older students who can't attend alternative schools in regular schools sometimes. However, there aren't that many, and the ones I've seen are not obviously older and have been mostly women. Moreover, they have tended to be people who really wanted to learn, as they are not required to go to high school at that age. I have never seen a freshman class full of 20 year old men as you describe.
I never said they are full of them but every team taught class where I am at has at least one 20 year old male and at least 2-3 19 year olds. My level 3 ESOL class has several 20 year olds with 14 year olds. You must not teach at a Lee or a Stuart or Annadale. I agree most the kids are good but 18+ year olds should not be in classes with 14 year olds.

We don't even know for sure that these "kids" are 22--they could be 30.
