Not well-known in the US, but still popular in Europe, and always performed in ancient churches with incredible acoustics that concert halls cannot replicate.

These pieces were invented before a uniform system of writing music was established. They are deceptively simple (unison, simple melody and rhythm), and yet, they have survived thousands of years and are still appreciated today.

I find those facts fascinating, and the music very soothing. It's meditation in the old Christian sense of the term, not in the yoga sense. BTW, Yoga and its meditative aspect is also a spiritual philosophy that dates back thousands of years.

If your parents were 9 when the Beatles came to the US in 64, then they are about 5 to 10 or more years younger than the bulk of the first Beatles fans.

Beach Boys began in the early 60s.

My dad (late 70s) was in the first round of Baby Boomers and huge fan of the Beach Boys.

My oldest sibling (early 50s) was raised on the Beach Boys.

Her oldest is early 30s and also loves the Beach Boys from hearing them in the car and at family gatherings.

Her oldest is starting elementary school, and loves bopping around to Surfing Safari, Papa Oom Mow Mow, Little Duece Coup, California Girls, etc.

The Beach Boys (and Elvis, the Beatles, Ray Charles, Temptations, Aretha, Sinatra, etc) are most certainly 4 generation artists

Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, Beatles.
